Lakshya Jeevan Jagriti (Awakening the aim of Life) is a social enterprise working for Women and Youth Development. In 2009 the organization was started by the core team of seven college going students who decided to work for society instead of choosing a high paying career.

As the name of the organization suggests, the mission is to awaken goal of life for all talents of India especially those underprivileged who although had talents but are trapped in one or two barriers of their lives which forces them to succumb to a definite NO to avail opportunities.

Lakshya Jeevan Jagriti started grooming 15 students initially, which within a year grew to 70 in number. As the time progressed the founders realized the real backbone of every student`s learning is his/her mother.

Since it is apparent that the children spend most of their time with their mothers the literacy level of any child is directly proportional to the education status of his/her mother.

With the launch of the next program, ASMA (AAO SAATH MAA “Come along Mothers”) Lakshya Jeevan Jagriti widened its focus of grooming talents. Since then the organization has benefited more than 10,000 beneficiaries.

As per the analysis (based on primary and secondary data) of the educational environment in India which helped in defining the strategy of the organization. As per UNESCO Over 50% of the population in India is under 25 years of age, public expenditure on education per student in India is the lowest in the world, the curriculum and teaching methodologies are outdated, emphasis is on rote learning, there is a lack of training around the skills that will make students employable and these and other social factors have led to an alarmingly high dropout rate in the country.

Lakshya Jeevan Jagriti decided to provide an innovative work-based learning model which enables students (Youth and Mother) to gain academic credit based on their ability to critically evaluate their own work environment constantly and is therefore based on real work experiences
